Metal Fabrication
Metal fabrication is the process of cutting, bending, welding, forming, and/or assembling metal materials. The “Metal Fab” industry is considered a value-added component of the manufacturing process. Metal Fabricators create structures and components. They also design and create machines, parts, and assemblies using a variety of raw materials.

Welding Shops
The welding industry is part of the fabrication process. Welding shops specialize in the joining of raw materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by fusing the materials. Fusion uses high heat to melt two or more materials, joining them together. The cooling process binds the materials thereby completing the fusion process. Welding differs from lower-temperature techniques such as brazing and soldering. These processes do not melt the base material. Welding can be performed by hand or by machine. Welding shops create structures and components. They also design and create machines, parts, and art using a variety of raw materials.
Abrasives play a pivotal role in weld preparation, weld blending, and the final finish process.

Machine and Job Shops
Machine shops use machine tools to cut, shape, and remove material from a workpiece. Job shops are typically smaller manufacturing facilities that specialize in piecework to larger job runs. Both machine shops and job shops focus on custom, semi-custom, to production manufacturing. These companies provide a wide range of goods used in manufacturing and a variety of other industries.
Abrasives are widely used by both machine and job shops. They are utilized in production, during the finishing process, or both.

Power Generation
Power generation is a general term that encompasses many different industries. However, the common thread is that these individual industries focus their efforts on the creation, storage, and use of power. This includes but is not limited to the use of fossil fuels for electric generation, nuclear power plants, hydropower plants, geothermal systems, solar power, biofuels, wind generation, and many more. Over the last decade, the world has made a push toward renewable energy sources. This trend has many complex challenges when looking at process optimization and efficient production. Now more than ever these industries must use the right tools when producing power generation systems and equipment. The correct application of abrasive tooling is paramount to reduce possible contamination problems. This is an extremely important consideration for key power-generating systems such as nuclear facilities.
